Starting April 1st this year, the Census Bureau will release its Decennial Census to the public. Every ten years the US counts the population of people in the country residing in each state. Participation in the 2020 Census is crucial as it determines the allocation of $675 billion dollars of federal funding for important social services, and the distribution of 435 seats in the House of Representatives for each state.
We are calling on New York City MSAs to sign up for the 2020 Census Challenge! Participation in the 2020 Census is crucial, and we want your MSA to be involved in encouraging New Yorkers to take part in their civic duty. In this challenge, your MSA will be assigned a zip code to conduct phone banks in which you will provide accurate information about the Census, answer questions, and encourage households to submit their Census surveys to the US Census Bureau. In this challenge, you will compete with MSAs across the city. The top five MSAs to encourage the most amount of participants in the 2020 Census will receive $1,000 and an honorary title from Majlis Ash-Shura: Islamic Leadership Council of New York.
